The Worst Witch - Olivia's Bookreview

I have read a book called The Worst Witch written by Jill Murphy. It is the first book in the series about the witch Mildred Hubble. The book has got 106 pages and several pictures. 

Mildred goes to a school called Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches. The school lies at the top of a high mountain and looks like a prison. There, Mildred gets into trouble every day. There is someone that she doesn't like, Ethel. She is always right on the spells and Mildred is wrong every time. One day Mildred turns Ethel into a pet but something goes wrong.

I liked the book because I liked the witches, the story was very good and I can't wait until I am going to read the next book. If you like Harry Potter you are going to like this book too. From 6 to 13 i think you can be interested in these books.

I recommend this book to boys and girls who likes fantasy stories.

Lola Rose

The book is about a teenager in England, Jayni, and her family. Jayni is an insecure girl with a complicated life. Her father is an alcoholic and easily become angry. He beat Jaynis mom and they have a tough time at home. A day lost her mother, Nikki, the lottery and Jayni and the mother decides not to tell anything to her dad, Jay. Anyway  Jaynis mom tells about money for Jay. They go out to celebrate and eat at a restaurant and both parents drink lots. It ends with Nikki and Jay becomes full. When they get home they start arguing and when Jayni trying to get them to stop hitting her and Jay leaves the house. Nikki decides that it's time to escape, which she does with Jayni and Jaynis little brother Kenny.Jaynis new name is Lola Rose.Kennys new name is Kendall and Ther mom Nikkis new name is paula.

Find their father Lola Rose,Kendall and paula.

I read a book called Zombies and Tommy Donbavand wrote the book. It was about a boy and his little sister. They where at the graveyard visiting their dead grandpa´s grave, when they suddenly heard a noise. Thats how they met Jake, a zombie who´s been dead for 60 years. All the zombies were going to have a party and they send Jake to fix some snacks and drinks.
So the children helped Jake with the snacks and the drinks.

I read the book out loud to my brother Anders and we think that it was good. Anders thinks that the best thing in the book is that the zombies likes lemonade and gives the book 4/5 goldstars. I think that the best thing about the book is that it is a happy suprise in the end and I also give the book 4/5 goldstars.

I would recommend this book for people who likes books that´s a bit scarry and funny but has a happy end.

Asterix and The Great Crossing-by Gossiny and Uderzo

Asterix and The Great Crossing is about the chiefs shield-bearers has eiting fish from Unhegienix. The shield-bearers has become ill so the chief most do the shield-bearers job. The chief is nagging on Unhegienix,    
Unhegienix said if they want to have frech fish they most wait to that comes more fish. When Unhegienix said that so in the same time it is someone ho sais no, that is Getafix. He need to have frech fish in the magic potion which gives superhuman strength, Getafix have only a little bit magic potion so he need to do more on forthwith. Asterix and Obelix said that they can go and fish in the sea. Asterix and Obelix take a boat, a net and then they go out and fish in the storm. Asterix said to Obelix:
- Throw the net.
Obelix throw the net but he is not fix the net in the boat so the net is away. In the desired thet are a new storm and that storm is broke the boat. In the water they find a tree so they floated with it. Then they come to land but they don´t know were they was. They have come to a land with romans(they thought that but that is indians). The take a net and then they take a new boat and fish on the way home.

 I recommend this book for everyone beacuse I like the book!!

English Book Review

Elizabite by H. A. Rey

               Main characteris: Elizabitea carnivore plant                                           Characters: Doctor Whigt, Professor Appleface, a dog named Scotty, Mary and a burglar.

The story is about a carnivore plant named Elizabite. In the beginning a botanist named Doctor White. He wants to take Elizabite home, but then he tries to take her Elizabite bites Whites finger. After that he tries to take her with a Butterfly net and he takes her home. I’m not telling more because if I do it it`s not fun to read the book.

I like the book because i think carnivorous plant is intresting and cool.

I recommend it to you if you are not so good at reading English because the book is thin.

I recommend it for kids between 8 and 10 years old who like clever stories. I don't recommend this book to kids who don't like stories without really funny plots.
I liked this book because it was exciting. One thing i did not like about this book was that it was not so funny.

The return of Johnny Kemp is a book by Keith Gray.

The book is about Dan. Dan is 13 and goes in school.

In the same school there is a student named Johnny Kemp. He is a very mean guy, he hits and thret other people bad. Finally  Dan got the bully Johnny Kemp kicked out from the school. But now his back and want to "kill" Dan. Does Johnny Kemp really  kill Dan? If you want the answer read this book!

I really liked the book because it was an exciting story. I think that boys between 10-13 would like this book because it has a lot of action. I would recommend this book to my friend Ahmed. He likes this kind of books

Adam Diary of a wimpy kid

The book is called Diary of a wimpy kid and is popular with many children in many countries. It is the world's most famous book. The author's name is Jeff Kiney .

The book is about Gregory who is 14 soon 15. He lives with a strange and annoying family. And he is the ideal of his family, it is only he who keeps his year promise and it is only he who suffers from tax reasons when he does something nice, but it is usually a bad thing. He thinks it's a good thing. But he sometimes think about a good and smart ideas That realy helps his life.

I liked the book very much and recommend it to children of all ages. The book was also good because he's funny and his family and friends are also great fun.

Sam the stolen puppy

The title of the book is "Sam the stolen puppy"and the author is Holly Webb.

 A brief summary of the book is that it's a girl that really wants a dog and every day she asks her mom why they can't have a dog? One morning when the girl's dad comes home from rescuing a house from fire then he has a cute little golden retriever puppy with him under his jacket. The girl got so surprised when she saw the dog and she asks her dad if it will be her dog?
 If you want the answer then you have to read the book, then you will know if she gets the puppy or not and how it goes for the girl.

I like the book much because I love dogs. I also like it because you really don't want to end reading until you
get to the end.

Kids would like to read this book and I would recommend this book to people who like dogs and a little excitement.

Bruno The penguin who wanted to find out

The penguin who wanted to find out by Jill Tomlinson and pictures by Paul howard

The story starts with the egg hatching and the penguin Otto comes out. He is the first baby penguin and he has to take care of the babies born after him. He needs to teach his younger friends how to do things. But first he has to learn from his dad and other grownups. It is difficult to be both teacher and student. But after a while he meets someone who knows how it is.

I think it was a good book because it made me happy, It was a positive story. Yet, the story was sometimes difficult to follow.

I would recommend this book to someone who is sad over something because then he or she might get happy.

Blenda - the cat who wanted to go home

This book is about a cat who lived in France. But one day she gets lost carried away by a balloon! After a wile Suzy ended up in England. And in England a women came and took care of Suzy. But Suzy wanted to get back to France. And that journey turned out to be quite an adventure!

I think that the book was both good and bad. It was good because it was a very fun story, about how Suzy got lost. But the language was childish, and the book is perhaps better for younger kids.

I would not recommend to someone in my age. But maybe to someone younger. 

Someone who is maybe 8 or 9 years old would like this book.

Linn (The ice man)

I have read the book The ice man. The authors are Roger Hurn and Jane A.C. West.

 The book is about Finn, Bruin, Kat ,Talon, Mo, Vana. They are called Tribe. And they are super–heroes because they have special powers. Tribe are humans and animals. Their plan is to save the world from anyone who tries to destroy the world. They need to find the bad persons before its too late. The  Planet is in trouble and only Tribe have the power to help.

In the book Tribe went to the artic to stop Ty Koone and his oil rig. Ty Koone has built a robot called The ice man to scare away all the people in village.

I like the book very much so I give it ★★★★ stars.  I like the book because it was exciting. I Would you recommend the book to kids my age. and I think they would think it was good.

Our Friends by W. Murray

This book is about different children. They are about 8 years old. In the book you are following the children to different places such as the farm. There was a girl named Pam that lived on a farm. She did like to help her mother and father. Pam’s best friends are Jane and Peter. They like to go home to Pam and Pam likes to go to Jane for some tea.

I did not like the book because it was from 1964. I cannot recommend this book to my friends because it is no action in the book.

I can recommend this book to children that will learn new words. At the end of the book it is a English/Swedish glossary with 50 words.

The Wiches by Roald Dahl

The Witches is a book by Roald Dahl.

The book is about a child that loses his parents and gets to live whit his grandmother. But every night the grandmother tells a story about witches. It can be all from how they look to what they do. 

It´s a wery dramatic book and I think Its a exiting book and when you read you get this feeling that you just can´t stop read.

I woud recomend it to some one who likes dramatic and funny books.

Welcome To Dead House by R.L. STINE

A family just moved in to a new house in the town Dark Falls. The kids in the family Josh and Amanda don't like there new house because its weird but there parents don't listen. Since they are going to live there they make some friends but these friends are not what they expected.

I think the book was good because it was interesting and had a bit of a spooky feeling to it. I recommend this book to people that like scary books.

Beast Quest Epos the flame bird by Adam Blade

Tom was walking in a large black tunnel. He heard sounds that he tought was an animal. He wanted to help the poor animal. Tom followed the sound but then he saw big eyes. It came out and it was the most powerful beast, it was the flame bird! Tom was fighting and fighting, but you need to read the book to know the rest. Doese Tom defet the flame bird?

I didn´t like the becuse it where boring when he where in the tunnel and fighted with the flame bird.

I would recomend it to boys who likes books that is with monsters and fighting.

The Twits by Roald Dahl

Mr Twit and Mrs Twit are really disgusting. They are playing tricks that are disgusting, and they hate children. But the worst is that they have monkeys in the garden and they have Bird Pie every Wednesday.

Now the upside down monkeys want revenge...

I think that the ones that thinks that english is hard to read this book is a perfect book. But maybe not for them that are scard of disgusting tricks.

I think this book is cool sinse it has many battles in it. I recommend this book to peapole who likes adventures.
